Go W/E with conjures and Shock.
Don't think of playing trident on your war though; you have excellent elite attacks, use them.

The reason that /Me sees little play is that it really doesn't offer much to the warrior.
You said yourself, Inspiration offers fantastic energy management, but Warriors have nothing to really spend energy on.
To be honest... There's only one skill I'd even consider from the Mesmer lines - Lyssa's Balance - and that's only if I can't be W/D for some reason. Everything else is useless hogwash, beaten by Watch Yourself!, Distracting Blow and Purge Sig/Holy Veil.
[skill]lyssa's balance[/skill] < [skill]rending touch[/skill]

Mesmer can be a very powerfull secondary for a war. It all depends on what you want your war to do and what map your on in pve.
In the crystal desert a war with Illusionary Weapons is very usefull as the forgoten Bow's use throw dirt as often as they can.
Mesmer stances can grant you dmg reduction vs an element and bost your energy pool. Also since the stances last for a very long time they pair will with shields that have +45hp in stance and -2dmg in stance.
In pvp its probably a bad choice but in pve it can be used very well to stack degen on a foe, interupt his healing and hand out fast dmg while increasing your suvivability.
Play with it a bit yourself before you discard it, you may find you have fun even if its not the most efficient build

Um, yeah. I discarded it because Flail (with WY! if needed) > defensive stances, and condition removal > a lame elite.

Warriors using a Mantra (outside some specialized reason... like HM Riohln Refuge /w Winter or something) are generally a waste. A Warrior needs a REALLY good reason not to have IAS in a build, and on a W/Me the only source of IAS is a stance.
IW is a crappy elite. Throw Dirt=Massive Recharge. Mending Touch>Throw Dirt, or better yet, get a Monk with condition removal?
Warriors aren't meant to stack degen... they inflict other conditions such as Deep Wound and Weakness. Leave the degen stacking to BA rangers or mesmer primaries.
Of the two choices I'd definately go W/E with Conjure Frost. Generally I use Conjure Frost because if a necro brings Spinal Shivers you don't even need to switch builds, and also you can use Frigid Armor if you need the extra armor (since you won't want to spec tactics on a Conjure Warrior for WY!.)
I personally use a build like this atm:
12+1+3 Weapon Mastery (12+1+1 in PvP)
9+1 Strength
9 Water Magic
Attack Skill | Attack Skill | Attack Skill/Utility | Elite | Flail | Enraging Charge | Conjure Frost | Rez Signet
If it's a sword warrior I'd probably run Cripslash/Gash/Sun and Moon Slash/Standing Slash or a similar combination with Dragon Slash/Sever/Gash. On an axe war I'd run Eviscerate/Executioner's Strike/Agonizing Chop with some sort of utility.

I've played a W/E through all 3 campaigns--excellent offense! I can usually make up about 2-3 good builds for each mission/quest. Right now, I've been running the Obsidian Flesh build in fow, and I use a variation of a Glad's Build for farming.
I've created a W/Me that I plan to go as far as I can before GW:EN comes out. I'm seeing a lot of possibilities with that as well.
I mainly do PvE in Guild Wars. The PvP community seems to frown on you if you try to experiment with a build other than a classic "Shock" warrior, or KD warrior, so I can't recommend builds for PvP....
